Summer (6 weeks full-time between December & February)

Responsibilities:
The internship is unpaid and full-time or part time for a period of no less than 3 months.
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background, organisation needs and the internship period.
Here are some examples:
- Assistance in organising events
- Developing communication strategies and plans
- Document and internet research
- Attending and summarizing conferences and meetings
- Working on web content
- Evaluation of projects
- Compiling statistics
- Media analysis and monitoring
- Speech-writing
- Administrative tasks as required
Competencies:
The United Nations Core Competencies are Communication, Teamwork, Planning and Organizing, Accountability, Creativity, Client Orientation, Commitment to Continuous Learning and Technological Awareness. UNIFEM Australia expects the same competencies, including:
- Communication – ability to draft clearly and concisely, good written and oral language skills
- Teamwork – experience working with a small team, good interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from different national and cultural backgrounds to achieve organizational goals
- Planning and Organizing - ability to establish priorities, to coordinate one’s own work plan and meet deadlines
- Technological Awareness – good IT skills
Qualifications:
Education:
To qualify for the UNIFEM Australia Internship Programme applicants must be presently enrolled in a degree programme in a university or a recent graduate (within 1 year)
Work Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience however this will strengthen any application
Selection Criteria:
Essential
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to work within a small team and meet deadlines
- Ability to problem-solve
- Good I.T. skills (Office Suite)
Preferred
- Awareness of women’s issues both domestically and internationally
- Experience in working within a Non-Government organisation
- Understanding of government and non-government structures and relationships
