Why attend a training workshop on gender analysis?
National women’s NGOs are being called upon to play a more proactive role in supporting the Australian government’s efforts to promote gender equity at local, state and national levels and to ensure that international obligations of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and UN Security Council Resolution 1325 (women, peace and security) are fulfilled. In order to play this role effectively national women’s NGOs should be familiar with gender analysis tools and important international instruments such as CEDAW and UNSCR 1325. These workshops will give you the practical skills, tools and confidence to enable you to better assess the effect of proposed policies/projects/programs on women, and to advise the government and other key stakeholders on strategies to address gender inequity.
How much do the workshops cost?
The Workshops are made possible through a Federal Government grant to UNIFEM Australia. If you are a staff member, board member, volunteer and/or active member of a national women’s NGO then workshop registration is free. Registration includes a light morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. Participants must meet their own travel and accommodation expenses.
Who will be providing the training?
The training will be provided by the Gender Consortium of Flinders University. More information about the trainers can be found here
